Time to blow out the sprinklers yet?

The short answer is, Yes. Some folks in Longmont will wait until November to blow out their sprinkler system. Some will do it, have done it, as early as the end of September. My philosophy is, why wait until after a freeze (32 degrees and below) happens when you can get it done now? So, go ahead and blow your system out this weekend. The Broncos are on a bye, so there’s no game to keep you tied to the couch. Worst case is the lawn dries out a little over the next few weeks and you need to hand water with the hose. But what are the chances of that happening? We’ve already had so much rain in Boulder County this fall I would bet against dry spots in your lawn. Plus, with lower temps, grass is not only using less water, there is less evaporation. So, go ahead, get outside, and get’er done.
