Get Out Around Longmont

Spring and Summer are the perfect time to get back outside and return to your favorite places. Here are some of our favorite places around Longmont. If you haven’t tried these local treasures, make sure to treat yourself this year!

Restaurants

Everyone likes food! So let’s start with our favorite restaurants around town.

  • Pumphouse Brewery

If you’re looking for a great variety in food choices done right, then the Pumphouse Brewery on Main Street is the place to go. There’s something for everyone here! Opened in 1996, The Pumphouse quickly became a staple for our community.
  • Jefes

This taqueria & tequila bar very quickly became a regular haunt of ours. If you love tacos, this is the place for you! Jefes offers unique flavor combinations with a vibrant atmosphere. Add a delicious margarita to the mix and you’ve got a night out on the town!
  • Georgia Boys BBQ

Southern barbecue in the heart of Longmont. Georgia Boys BBQ offers a great place to hang out and watch big games, get the family together for spectacular food, or simply pick up dinner on your way home. You can’t go wrong with this home-cooked flavor.
  • East Moon Asian Bistro

If you’re looking for Chinese cuisine, East Moon Asian Bistro is the place to go. The open atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food make this our favorite Chinese restaurant in Longmont. If you don’t have time to grab dinner, you can order online and they deliver.

Hang-Outs

Longmont has an amazing community and a lot of our restaurants, distilleries, pubs, and cafés are prime examples of the Longmont way of life. These are a few of our favorite hang out spots.

  • Wibby Brewing

This brewery is always alive. Wibby has amazing outdoor seating, fantastic brews, and a great rotation of local food trucks. This place is hopping in the summer, with entertainment, events, and so much more. We love hanging with friends and family at Wibby. Plus – they’re dog friendly!
  • The Red Zone at The Pumphouse

Wanna hang out with your friends and watch a game, any game? The Red Zone at the Pumphouse Brewery is the place to go. They have every game streaming on their many televisions, and a great selection of house-brewed beer and great food. Bring the kids – the Red Zone has an arcade area too!
  • St Vrain Cidery

Looking for a more relaxed hangout? St. Vrain Cidery is a great place to go. They’ve a destination for cider lovers too, with some of the highest quality dry American-style ciders. They’re also kid and dog friendly!
  • Ziggis

Are you more of a morning person, getting your day started bright and early? Check out Ziggis on Main Street. It’s a great place to catch up with local acquaintances and meet new people while grabbing a great cup of coffee and locally fresh baked pastries.

Local Events & Activities

Do you love doing stuff with friends?  We have a few to look forward to this year.

  • East Side Bike Night

The East Side Bike Night is the best way to get out with your neighbors and see the town while doing some light exercise. There aren’t many big hills on the East Side, after all. The Wise Team has hosted this event for over 5 years now. To learn more about our Monday night rides, follow us on Facebook

  • Longmont Downtown Summer Concerts

During the summer, Longmont hosts many different concerts and events for the community. These are free events that feature local bands, artists, food trucks and more. Come meet us downtown this summer! For more information, check out the Longmont Downtown Summer Concerts website.
  • Oktoberfest

Every year as autumn peaks itself into Roosevelt Park arrives Oktoberfest. It’s a great community event with amazing local food, draft beers, and live music. Grab your lederhosen and your bier steins and get ready for a good time. The exact date of Oktoberfest shifts year to year, and they don’t have a dedicated website so keep checking Facebook and the Longmont City Events page.
  • Golfing

One of our favorite pastimes is golfing, and the golf courses in Longmont, and most of the font range, are spectacular! With over 300 days of sunlight, awe-inspiring mountain views, and wonderful daytime temperatures Longmont is a great place to golf. Grab a few friends, a couple cold ones, and your clubs and enjoy.

The Great Outdoors

One of the top reasons people move to Colorado is to get outside and experience the great outdoors. If you need a few ideas of places to explore, here are a few of our favorites:

  • St Vrain Greenway

In the heart of Longmont runs the St. Vrain River, and over the past few years the city has been renovating the areas surrounding the river for our enjoyment. Take your bike, your dog, or a book and explore the St. Vrain Greenway. In the summer you can go tubing down the river, fish its lazy flow, or simply enjoy bird watching as you stroll along the riverbank.
  • Button Rock Preserve & Reservoir

If you don’t mind a little drive into the mountains, the Button Rock Preserve & Reservoir is an amazing, easy hike to some gorgeous views of mountain rivers and a large body of water. The Preserve is located 7 miles west of Lyons, up Highway 36. To learn more about the area, visit Longmont’s Website.
  • Sandstone Ranch

Sandstone Ranch is just east of Longmont on Highway 119. It hosts fields for baseball, a picnic area, and 313 acres of open space. This area also offers amazing views of the Rocky Mountains.

Longmont is situated in an amazing spot. It’s just outside the Denver Metro Area, surrounded by farmland and open spaces that allow for our city to breathe. Thanks to this geographic location, Longmont has grown and developed with an amazing community. A lot of our businesses are centered around that mentality – bringing people together for a good time, quality faire, and family & friends. Make sure to check out these favorite spots and meet some new people or try something new. And keep your eyes out for The Wise Team. We’ll probably be hanging out at one of these locations or events!
