This years G’Knight Ride was spectacular! We couldn’t have asked for better weather or company as we celebrated cycling around Longmont, taking in the beauty of this wonderful city and its amazing architecture. Damian Wise of The Wise Team led the community on the 7th annual G’Knight Ride this year, and we saw over 2000 people join in on the Ride and its activities; everything from a Pedalpalooza — showcasing new and strange modes of pedaling — to a BMX show, and music. We also heard great local bands this year: One Flew West, Cycles, Trashcan Jackson, Kyle Donovan, and Clandestine Amigo! The food was amazing as well: all local food trucks ready to serve up their cuisine, everything from CycleHops Bike Cantina to Samples World Bistro to Lord of the Wings — we were definitely not hungry for long.
Damian led the ride out from Roosevelt Park in Downtown Longmont, took us through the neighborhood of Historic Westside Longmont down to Izaak Walton Park before making our way back to Main Street along some of the restored Greenway. It was really nice to see the amazing work they’ve been doing along the river since the flood. Crossing back through town towards Hover, though moving southward along Sunset to Pike Road, we traveled through most of Longmont before sticking to Left Hand Creek all the way back up to the Historic East Side neighborhood by way of Martin Street. Overall, the full extent of the ride was just about 12 miles, though not everyone made the entire 12 mile trip — there were also 2 other routes with much shorter distances for our young ones and cyclists in training. We really appreciated how the G’Knight Ride really focused on including everyone in the community!
We really have to thank our wonderful sponsors, Oskar Blues Brewery, for putting on this wonderful community event, High Plains Bank for sponsoring the music, and the large number of other sponsors who helped bring this together. This is truly a great way to get to know Longmont, its people, and its businesses who all support cycling! Hopefully you’ll join us, The Wise Team, next year for the G’Knight Ride through Longmont, Colorado!
